At Squire we are serious about our hounds but we also believe in having a sense of humor about ourselves. The AKC conformation dog showing process provides important external validation of the quality of our dogs and our breeding. The dogs we own and breed all have achieved American Kennel Club (AKC) Grand Champion status. Three of our hounds have been sired by American Black and Tan Coonhound Club (ABTCC) hall of fame dogs. In In addition, dogs used for breeding purposes have completed all breed recommended health clearances for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. Our hounds are family members and live in our home with us. They enjoy a large outside yard where they exercise and play daily. On the more humorous side, the name, Squire, was adopted from a jest made by a friend who started calling me the squire because we live in the country and own four coonhounds. With tongue-in-cheek, we refer to our girls as “belles” and our boy a ”beau.”
